Shishaldin Volcano rises over 9000 ft (2800 m) directly from the Pacific Ocean and is the highest volcano on Unimak Island. Unimak is the easternmost and largest of the Aleutians Islands, and part of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge.
Augustine Volcano has a nearly symmetrical central summit with an elevation of 1,260 m (4,134 ft). Debris avalanches and landslides are the likely origins of Augustine’s hummocky coastal topography around Burr Point.
