Sentinel Island is located along the east shore of Lynn Canal at the northern entrance to Favorite Channel. This was the main route to Skagway for most of the stampeders heading to the Klondike gold fields. The Sentinel Island Lighthouse was activated on March 1, 1902.
The Gulf Islands are in the Strait of Georgia, also known as the Salish Sea. The Gulf Islands National Park Reserve is one of eight National Park Reserves in Canada, and covers 36 square kilometres (14 sq mi) of islets, reefs, and 15 larger islands including about half of Saturna Island.
Captains Bay is the southern arm of Unalaska Bay on the northeast coast of Unalaska Island. A number of shipwrecks are now decaying in the shallows in an area called Port Levashef, including the wreck of the SS Northwestern.
The Awa'uq or Refuge Rock Massacre was a battle between the native Alutiiq people on Kodiak Island and 130 men, led by Grigory Shelikhov from the Russian-American Company, armed with muskets and cannons.
Tillamook Rock Light is a deactivated lighthouse located approximately 1.2 miles (1.9 km) offshore from Tillamook Head, and 20 miles (32 km) south of the Columbia River, situated on less than an acre of basalt rock.
The Arness Dock is in Nikiski Bay on the Kenai Peninsula. The private dock was built from surplused Liberty Ships and is used to support oilfield supply vessels for the offshore platforms in Cook Inlet.
Active Pass is a narrow strait in the British Columbia Gulf Islands separating Mayne Island in the south and Galiano Island in the north. It connects the Trincomali Channel in the west and the Strait of Georgia in the east.
