See more pictures of the Kensington Mine here:
The Kensington underground gold mine and associated milling facilities are located near Berners Bay on the east side of Lynn Canal about 45 miles (73 km) north of Juneau, Alaska.
The mine is expected to produce about 125,000 ounces (3544 kg) of annual production in the early years of operation. Over the 10-year life of the mine, Kensington is expected to produce more than 1 million total ounces (28350 kg) of gold. Mining will be conducted underground via ramp access. Kensington will use an on-site flotation mill to produce a concentrate that will be shipped elsewhere for processing.
There is no road to the mine, access is by either a combination of road vehicles, boat, helicopter, floatplane, or by boat directly from Juneau. Read more here and here. Click here to download the CoastView app and explore Kensington Mine and Lynn Canal.
